SCADA SYSTEM FOR SMART HOME USING IGSS SOFTWARE

Abstract- SCADA is the acronym for “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition.” SCADA allows us to monitor and control a process in wide range industries and increases the productivity of company. Implementation of this modern sys-tem is important to monitor the home condition by controlling any path of the electrical components such as the lamp, fans, Electric Power, Mass Transit Systems, Environmental Control Systems, Manufacturing Systems and so on especially while there are nobody at home. Good SCADA is easy to use and user friendly which is directly relates a lot of GUI’s part that able to minimum wasted time to control the application and knowing the status of electrical component in real time as well. This project focuses on the smart home and security concept prob-lems to find out the best monitoring system that are suitable for us either using a manual or automatic method which depend on the OMRON PLC programming and have the ability to control the process with a real time access. The workability and func-tionality of SCADA system was analyses and it able to apply for smart home and security concept.



I. INTRODUCTION

Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is the technology that enables a user to collect data from one or more distant facilities and/or send limited control instruc-tions to those facilities. Supervisory in Smart Home Monitor-ing System using IGSS is the project that produces a system that can be controlled by a user at central place [1][2]. Su-pervisory is process of observe and direct the execution of task or activity [3]. In other word is to monitor the functional some of network activity from beginning until finish or ma-nually programming.
This project is based on monitoring process in Smart Home and Security Concept system that use house proto-type, OMRON CJ1M, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) model series selected and IGSS SCADA software for the SCADA system. The operation of Smart Home and security Concept divided by two functional. First for automatic func-tion that use when we leave the home. The automatic moni-toring system can running PLC programming by setting for 24 hours to show the house look like have an occupant activity to avoid the cases home broken. The security system that installed can active by two device, CCTV camera and siren intruder.
Secondly, for manual control to monitoring our electric device around the home with comfortable and safety .The system also can be restarted if have any problem an also reprogramming again depending on our suitable desire Those systems are combined to make it flexible, effective and pro-ductive [4].


The objectives of this project as follows to develop SCADA System for Smart Home Using IGSS Software ap-plication and the usage of PLC for simple smart home and security concept. Second objective is to demonstrate a prototype of Smart Home System (SHS) using PLC, and IGSS SCADA system control with the Ethernet application.
This scope of project has following limitations to develop a prototype of Smart Home system (SHS) monitoring by using PLC OMRON brand CJ1M and IGSS SCADA soft-ware. This scope of project also include to establish the con-nection between prototype basic smart home system with PLC and SCADA software through serial communication or Ethernet protocol

II. METHODOLOGY

This chapter explains the methods used to implement this project. The first one is to identify and understand the flow of operation system. This system consists of two main part, hardware part development and usage of PLC and IGSS SCADA software for programming language.

A. Hardware Design: Smart Home System (SHS) Prototype
The overview of this system will ensure the scope of project its objectives will be achieved in this project. This project has used (SHS) by using IGSS SCADA. This proto-type has fourteen inputs and eleven output that communicate both PLC and SCADA. Figure 1 and figure 2 show general diagrams and block diagram. Also, figure 3 show the SHS prototype.
